This isn't something I can afford, but, to paraphrase Ferris Bueller, if you have the means, I highly recommend it. The Mandarin Oriental, opening in New York at the top of the Time Warner building this October, is offering a "suite" spa deal. Stay in specialty suite and receive a complimentary half-day spa session worth $720.

The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, New York will transport guests into another world with personalized journeys booked in blocks of time called Time RitualsTM. With the Suite-Spa Special, valid from opening 2003 through March 31, 2004, guests can select one half-day spa Time Ritual for one person, or two, two-hour Time Rituals. Each personalized treatment is delivered by experienced therapists using holistic rejuvenation techniques complemented by Asian-based rituals.
This Suite-Spa Special will offer Mandarin Oriental guests a blissful, pampering experience to complement its luxurious suite accommodations. This complimentary spa offer is valued at $720 and is valid during the hotel visit with one Suite-Spa Special per stay.
Suite Specifications and Rates
Located on floors 35 through 54 of the new AOL Time Warner Center at Columbus Circle, Mandarin Oriental, New York will offer 48 suites and 203 deluxe guestrooms with floor-to-ceiling windows and sweeping panoramas of Manhattan. Three suite types and two specialty suites are available. Rates per suite, per night, excluding taxes are: Mandarin Executive Suites, $1,600 (16); Central Park View Suites, $2,000 (16); Premier Central Park View Suites, $2,400 (14); Tai-Pan Suite (1), $4,500; and The Oriental (1), the hotel’s presidential suite, $12,000.
Ranging in size from 800 square-feet to 2,230 square-feet, all suites are strategically located in the corners of the hotel, ensuring spectacular views. Suite guests will be pampered with a variety of luxurious amenities, including: in-room welcome gifts upon arrival, personalized stationery, seasonal flower arrangements, soaking tubs with picture windows, complimentary bath butler service and full-size therapeutic bath amenities by Aromatherapy Associates. The sixteen top suites will offer fully stocked, complimentary private bars and espresso machines. Outfitted with sophisticated technology, the suites feature a highly personalized entertainment system with Dolby 5.1 surround sound and a high-definition flat-screen plasma television with DVD capabilities.
The design inspiration for the suites originated from the opulent style and spacious proportions of grand Manhattan apartments of the early 1900s, with contemporary flair. To mirror the concept of “the Manhattan apartment”, all the suites are individual in style, complete with distinctive artwork.
Specialty Suites at Mandarin Oriental, New York
The Oriental Suite, the hotel’s 2,230-square-foot presidential suite, features a large living room, dining area, spacious kitchen and a separate Mozambique wood-paneled study, handcrafted oriental rugs and expansive views of Central Park. Its dramatic color scheme, using a sophisticated backdrop of semi-precious Chinese jade tones, complements the dark-toned furniture and soothing apricot accents, creating a harmonious and elegant environment. The bedroom walls are upholstered with silk and a spacious walk-in closet is paneled with sycamore. A combination of New York and oriental art and artifacts is used throughout the suite.
The Tai-Pan Suite, graced with a blue, gray and gold color scheme, features a kitchen, large living and dining room with a separate study that can double as either an entertainment center or a workspace. The suite has a large master bedroom and bath and includes a separate walk-in closet. Decorative objects and artwork in the suite reflect the hotel’s aesthetic, using a mixture of New York and oriental influences. One unique piece will be a Chinese Ancestral portrait, which will hang above the bed in the master bedroom.
