Stowe, VT, September 10, 2003 – The new Spa at Stoweflake, a 50,000-square-foot luxury spa, nestled amidst the majestic Green Mountains, officially opened today during a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by Governor Jim Douglas, Miss Vermont 2003 Jennifer Ripley and more than 100 guests. The new spa, located at the AAA Four Diamond Stoweflake Mountain Resort & Spa, will be Vermont’s largest and most inclusive spa and will create an estimated 75–100 new jobs.
Chuck Baraw, president of the family-owned Stoweflake Mountain Resort & Spa, joined Governor Douglas in cutting the ribbon to mark the opening of the new luxury spa.
“I am delighted that both Governor Douglas and Miss Vermont were able to join my family and the Stowe community to mark this special occasion,” said Baraw. “The Spa at Stoweflake will re-define the spa experience in its exceptional service, well-trained staff and the incorporation of Vermont’s famed four seasons in its design, treatments and cuisine.”
And as a part of the ceremonial activities, Spa Director Chris Pulito presented Miss Vermont 2003 with a special “Day of Beauty” package and a Shambala Buddhist monk performed a traditional blessing with the burning of juniper branches and incense.
The 50,000-square-foot spa will feature 120 treatments and will include 30 private treatment rooms, six area fireplaces, a 10,000-square-foot meditative garden and labyrinth, private Sanctuary Lounges and the Aqua Solarium, a water therapy room solarium featuring a 12-foot replica of Vermont’s famed Bingham Falls and a Hungarian Mineral Soaking Bath.
A world-class Sports Club will also be a part of the new spa and will feature a private women’s fitness room, Cybex Fitness Center, and a state-of-the-art Spinning Studio and Yoga Studio.
The Stoweflake Mountain Resort & Spa is currently celebrating its 40th anniversary of charming visitors as a family owned-and-operated resort.
