Cheeca Lodge Goes Condo
Tuesday February 10, 2004
Cheeca Lodge & Spa has new owners, and they are transitioning the resort to condominiums, the Miami Herald reports. The Florida Keys resort, which originally opened in 1946, has been a favorite of celebrities (Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf and Jack Nicklaus are regulars, and George Bush Sr. holds an annual fishing tournament there.) Half of the resort's 202 rooms are being converted to condos for sale, but they will still be available for nightly rentals. Units are being renovated with dark woods, marble bathrooms and plasma television sets, and will sell for $495,000 to $1.44 million. Profile of Cheeca Lodge & Spa
