More than just the name has changed at this Midtown Manhattan hotel. Hotel 5A, which until recently was known as the Clarion Hotel Fifth Avenue, will undergo a $3 million renovation of the guest rooms and lobby. You won't have to wait for one change; Wi-Fi Internet access is free.
Those who have legally changed their names are eligible for a free Sunday night stay. Unfortunately, name changes as a result of marriage or divorce don't count, which rules out most of us. So they are offering a special $155 per night rate to everyone.

Free Sunday Night for Those Who Changed Their Name

Special Renaming Rate of $155 for All

New York, NY – August 19, 2004 – Following in the footsteps of Madonna, Prince and many other Hollywood stars, The Clarion Hotel Fifth Avenue is changing its name. Starting August 23, the midtown hotel located on 40th Street off of the world-famous Fifth Avenue, will be known as Hotel 5A. To celebrate its new name, Hotel 5A is offering a free Sunday night stay to anyone who has legally changed their first or last name. Sorry, name alterations due to marriage or divorce don’t count! Not wanting to discriminate against those who choose to stick with their given name, Hotel 5A is also offering special rate of $155 for anyone who has ever dreamed of changing their name (no worries, proof is not required). Bookings must be made by September 30 for travel by December 30, 2004.*

The meaning behind Hotel 5A is a double-entendre, with 5A being both an abbreviation for its Fifth (5) Avenue (A) location and a typical New York apartment number. In fact, Jerry Seinfeld’s apartment on his hit sitcom, Seinfeld, was 5A. Hotel 5A will also undergo an over $3 million renovation starting in January 2005. The renovation will include the lobby and soft goods in all guestrooms, among other updates, all aiming to make guests feel as if they are staying at a friend’s place, offering the comforts and touches of home. Effective immediately, the hotel will offer Wi-Fi access complimentary, of course (you wouldn’t expect a friend to charge, would you?).

For information and reservations visit www.Hotel5A.com or contact the hotel direct at 212-447-1500.

Hotel 5A is designed for business and leisure travelers who demand comfort, value, and service, as well as a superb Midtown location. Combining the latest amenities with cozily furnished accommodations, the modern 189-room, 30-story Hotel 5A provides visitors to New York with a fashionable address at unfashionably affordable rates. Located just off the lobby, guests can dine at the critically acclaimed Salmon River restaurant, which serves lunch, dinner, cocktails and a full breakfast. Hotel 5A is located just off Fifth Avenue on East 40th Street, steps from the New York Public Library, Grand Central Station, and Bryant Park and within walking distance of the Empire State Building, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Broadway and the theater district.

*Free room nights and discounted rate are both based on availability.
