Fawlty Towers Sold

Tuesday February 15, 2005
Fawlty Towers is under new management. As you will recall, the inspiration for John Cleese's beloved British television comedy series, the Hotel Gleneagles in Torquay, was put up for sale late last year.

Fans of the show, Kumar and Panna Patel (and Kumar's brother, Keethri) bought the hotel for about $2.8 million. The hotel's general manager, Ricky Langton, was quoted by the Associated Press as assuring prospective guests who might worry the sitcom reflects current hotel service, "We're absolutely fantastic to customers. We've got a 70 percent rebooking rate."

If you stay there, I'd love to hear your opinion.
