Rough Start at L'Auberge du Lac?

Tuesday May 31, 2005
Houston Gambler visited the recently opened L'Auberge du Lac this past weekend and writes,
"Do not expect an upscale atmosphere. If you want gambling, it will do the trick. Looking for the 'spa' type atmosphere? Go elsewhere. Staff not doesn't know how to handle casino resort guests. WalMart does a better job at customer satisfaction."
Anyone have a good experience? Or is Houston Gambler right on the mark? I'd love to hear your opinion.

Relative to the Pile of Debris (Isle’s) dingy dirty gambling hole, L’Auberge is heaven. The negative reviews around their grand opening do not represent the business in its current fluid state of customer service. Generous comping, land based feel, good food, and polite people……good experience. Sounds like the previous reviews were at a time when L’Auberge wasn’t “settled in” their groove yet. Also, the “EXPERT” opinion offered by the customer service professional dropped the Harrah’s name so many times in their complaint, hard for me to believe they weren’t advertising for Harrah’s.

Relative to the dingy dirty casinos in Southwest LA, L’Auberge is by far above and beyond average. So it doesn’t have a poker room……..then go play at Isle or Coushatta, just don’t be an idiot like the “Expert” and plan your trip without looking at the offerings/amenities of the casino you plan on visiting.

As far as Delta Downs goes, great for slot only people. But restaurants are limited. IF casinos were restaurants, L’Auberge would be Ruth’s Chris steakhouse, Isle would be Taqueria Rojo #2, Delta would be Quizno’s (what do they do with the Horses that don’t run quite like they used to????)

I agree, I had a chance to visit last year and really enjoyed it. I’ve received some favorable reviews from others since this one; you can see them all at http://hotels.about.com/od/louisiana/p/lauberge_du_lac.htm.
