Raves for Disney Dining Plan

Wednesday June 1, 2005
My sister's family just returned from an eight-day trip to Walt Disney World, with three children (6 years, 3 years and five months old) and friends with a six- and four-year-old. She reports:
We LOVED the "Disney Dining Plan," which we now refer to as the "Disney Gluttony Plan."
Her detailed report on Disney's Dining Plan follows.
We alternated between character meals for breakfast, and just picking something up quickly at the hotel. Lunch was counter service, and a snack for everybody (bottled water and usually an ice cream) was included every day.

At night we would eat at one of our favorite restaurants, like the Prime Time Cafe. We each could order an appetizer, an entree and a desert. The kids were supposed to order off the children's menu, but since that menu didn't have appetizers, they could pick one off the adult menu. Since the younger kids weren't going to eat all that food, we would end up with NINE appetizers and NINE huge deserts between four adults! It was much more food than we could handle.

All this cost us about $90 per day. It was a fantastic deal. So great, I'm sure they will change the policy before too long!

I really liked having the dining plan, we ate well the whole week, i really liked the fact that the tip is already included in the table service, but i would recommend that you book your table service restaurants ahead of time, so you can eat where you had your heart set on. My family enjoyed 3 character meals while we were there and my little girl got many pics and autographs, character meals are great for meeting the characters without waiting in line forever.
