Potsdam or Berlin?

USA Today links to us in an article about visiting Germany's restored capital, Berlin. They recommend taking a side trip to Potsdam, a "suburb" filled with palaces and royal gardens. I recommend doing it the other way around: make Potsdam your home base and take a day trip into busy Berlin.

Whichever way you choose, take a photo tour of Potsdam sites first. Even though these photos were taken on a bit of a grey, rainy day, the beauty of Potsdam shines through.
