La Costa Resort & Spa

They were the first to do it, and they are still among the best. La Costa Resort, when it opened just north of San Diego in 1965, brought something truly innovative to the United States -- the destination spa.

Surrounded by flowers in full colorful bloom, shaded by palm trees and inspired by views of Carlsbad from the resort's hilltop perch, I was astounded by the beauty of the resort before I even stepped foot into the spa. Once inside La Costa Spa, I could see why it was considered a "destination." I was in no hurry to leave.
