Tripadvisor announced the Ten Hippest Hotels worldwide. I've stayed in roughly half of them, and yes, most made me feel as if I needed a wardrobe upgrade just to walk through the lobby. Or maybe I just needed to throw away everything that wasn't black. In case the hipness of your accommodations is important to your selection, here they are:
- Hotel Gansevoort (NYC): Mostly for the rooftop pool, I would think
- Sanderson (London): Rock-star artsy
- THEhotel at Mandalay Bay (Las Vegas): Digs are cool and comfortable
- Hotel St. Paul (Montreal): Haven from the elements, inspired by the elements
- Claris Hotel (Barcelona): Art lovers will love it
- Clift Hotel (San Francisco): Decor, from the enormous lobby fireplace to the Redwood Bar, is larger than life
- The Setai (Miami): Cool hotel with a warm chocolaty color palate
- Palazzo Versace (Gold Coast, Australia): Italian decadence
- Morrison Hotel (Dublin): One of Ireland's hippest scenes
- Sezz Hotel (Paris): Loft beds float in the center of these ultramodern rooms
