A few days ago, Forbes Traveler.com came out with a list of the 30 most visited cities in the United States. The list itself is interesting to peruse, but of course not all visitors to a city book a hotel room. So out of curiosity, I rearranged the list. Conspicuously missing is New Orleans, where bookings have been severely impacted by Hurricane Katrina. Here are cities that sold the most hotel rooms, with links to the hotels I recommend there:
- The winner: Las Vegas, with 40 million hotel rooms sold last year.
- Orlando (27.2 million)
- Los Angeles (25.5 million)
- Chicago (24.8 million)
- New York City (23.9 million)
- Washington, DC (22.8 million)
- Atlanta (21.5 million)
- Dallas (15.9 million)
- Houston (14.5 million)
- San Diego (14.2 million)
- Phoenix (13.1 million)
- San Francisco (13.4 million)
- Anaheim (13.9 million
- Miami (11.2 million)
- Boston (11.7 million)
- Philadelphia (10.2 million)
- Tampa Bay (9.6 million)
- Seattle (9.4 million)
- Denver (8.7 million)
- San Antonio (8.3 million)

Good post.
