Ft. Lauderdale gets a Ritz-Carlton
Wednesday July 23, 2008
Life happens fast in the hotel industry. In a move that would make your head spin, the St. Regis Ft. Lauderdale, which opened in May 2007 and was largely known for really high room rates, will become a Ritz-Carlton on August 11. While room rates aren't likely to get any lower, it's nice to know you are never more than an hour or so away from a Ritz-Carlton in south Florida.
Next on the list for Ritz-Carlton: Shenzhen, China; Dove Mountain, Arizona; and Lake Tahoe, California.

This place is great. I just stayed there in May, 2008 when it was the St. Regis. I can’t believe they changed the name so fast. I’m a St. Regis fan, so I’m a little upset about this. They don’t have a presence in Florida at all, and when they finally did, they ended up losing it.
