Checking In: Sofitel Le Faubourg Paris

Years ago, when I dreamed of being in the foreign service, I imagined this was what it was like to live like a diplomat. An elegant, discreet hotel next to the embassy, a few steps away from the palais of none other than the president of France. Dining on French haute cuisine served in a lush hidden courtyard. Spending a free afternoon wandering along the tree-lined avenues of the 8th arrondissement and along the banks of the Seine. Window shopping for designer clothes and pastries seemingly too beautiful to eat. After a few days at the Sofitel le Faubourg, I decided I could settle right in to Paris. Especially in this neighborhood.
