I'm always happy to find a sweet treat on my hotel bed at turn down. Perhaps a chocolate or a mint. But put cupcakes in my room and I may never want to check out! The US Grant Hotel in downtown San Diego is sweetening the deal for guests through the month of October by teaming up with Sprinkles Cupcakes, the world's first cupcake bakery (the flagship store is in Beverly Hills). Book the Sweet Indulgence package (from $299 per night) and you'll find two freshly baked Sprinkles cupcakes in your room to tempt you as well as a cupcake mix so you can try your hand at baking them at home. I recently had the chance to stay at the hotel, and really liked the high-ceilings in the rooms, contemporary decor touches in the historic building (it dates to 1910), views of downtown San Diego and smack dab central location in the fun Gaslamp Quarter (walking distance to bars and restaurants so you can burn off the cupcake calories before ingesting more!). But as nice as the hotel is, of course, they had me at cupcake...
