We all know Earth Day should be every day. But the actual date this year falls this Sunday, on April 22. If you're planning on celebrating away from home, why not book a stay at one of these LEED certified hotels:
- In coastal Maine, the Inn by the Sea was the first hotel in Maine to debut a Silver LEED certified spa, as well as the first hotel in Maine to heat with biofuel and be carbon neutral (the property also offers carbon free meetings and vacations).
- In Los Angeles, the Shore Hotel in Santa Monica recently got Gold LEED status, with 50 percent of its construction waste recycled or salvaged and wood coming from sustainable sources. And the new Hotel Wilshire< is also LEED certified, with all employee uniforms made from recycled material and high-efficiency HVAC systems, among other earth-friendly inclusions.
- Hotel Skyler in Syracuse, NY, in a building that dates to 1921, was refitted to receive LEED Platinum certification.
- And if you're wondering which state has the most LEED certified hotels, that would be California, with over 20 properties.
Start planning your Earth Day stay, earthlings!
