I love Halloween! And the tombstones erupting in the lawns of neighbors and cobwebs stretched between live oak trees have my neighborhood looking pretty creepy these days. But to really get in the spirit of the season, there's nothing quite like bedding down in the creaky, creepy surrounds of a haunted hotel. My first time staying in a haunted hotel was at the Napa River Inn in California's wine country, where I spent the evening in the reputedly haunted room #207 chasing spirits. You can read all about the experience. And if you're not sure if you're brave enough to confront the supernatural in your hotel room, I've got a few tips to consider before making your reservation. If, like me, you want to try your hand at capturing ghostly apparitions on film, I've got the breakdown on how to best capture orbs and other oddities here.

And that means all that's left to do is book your room. From deep south haunts in Louisiana to California and Oregon, the US is full of reputedly ghostly hotels. So have a look at my list of the Top Ten Haunted Hotels in the United States or browse haunted hotels by state and start planning your supernatural night. And have a happy and safe Halloween!
