Description:
Location, style and service come together in a beautiful way in the new (January 2004) Ritz-Carlton Berlin. In the heart of Potsdamer Platz, centerpiece of the German capital city, the Ritz-Carlton takes its place amid such diverse, culturally important neighbors as the über-modern Sony Center and the historic Brandenburg Gate. The exterior Art Deco styling is offset with the Peter Silling-designed classical interior. Spanning two levels, the lobby welcomes guests with comforting, classic touches such as a winding marble staircase, wood-burning fireplace and mahogany-paneled library. Rooms and suites are also finely traditional with Italian cherry furnishings and large windows with views of Potsdamer Platz architecture or Berlin's "Central Park," the Tiergarten. Rooms also boast modern luxuries such as heated bathroom floors, touchscreen bedside control panels and CD players. Of special interest is one of the hotel's five restaurants, the Brasserie Desbrosses. This brasserie, which since 1875 called home a small village in France, has been moved to Germany piece by piece, and has been recreated inside the hotel. Featured are freshly baked pastries and charcuterie. A terrace affords diners views of bustling Potsdamer Platz.
