Answer: There are as many answers to this question as there are Disney World resorts. Disney plans its hotels and resorts with the same care and attention it provides to the design of the theme parks and rides that make it famous. Each is uniquely themed, and immerses you in a completely different environment. For example, the Wilderness Lodge transports you to Yosemite National Park. You can hear crickets outside, and watch as a geyser erupts in front of you. Even the trees planted at the resort are native to the Northwest!

In contrast, Disney's BoardWalk Inn takes you back to a seaside resort in the Northeast at the turn of the century. The Polynesian takes you to the South Seas, down to the nightly luaus. And the Carribbean Beach Resort sets you down in a small island village.

Each resort gives you a completely different theme, which carries through from the lobby to the pool area and even to your guest room. If you love the theme of the hotel, you'll love the hotel, but even if you're not crazy about the theme, the detail will likely charm you anyway.

In general, each resort has one or two restaurants themed to the hotel (one casual and one fine dining), and a food court for quick meals and snacks (the All-Stars only have food courts). Each has several pools, with the main, largest pool generally being the "loud" pool with several smaller "quiet" pools dotting the property. Many pools have water slides, to the delight of kids and adventurous adults. Most have televisions in the lobby playing Disney videos to keep children occupied while you check in or relax in the lobby. All have gift shops with essentials like aspirin and keepsakes for your trip.
