Munster Germany

The town center was leveled down to the cobblestones during the bombings of World War II, with 90% of the buildings damaged or destroyed. Rather than follow other European cities with more modern designs and wider streets, the town decided to rebuild in the old style. Following the original city plans, building facades were recreated. In many ways, this was an improvement, as many of the original facades had been obscured by renovations in the 1920s.
