Mason House Inn

Mason House

Innkeeper Joy Hanson writes, "The Mason House Inn was built in 1846 as a hotel for the steamboat travelers on the Des Moines River. Originally named the Ashland House, it was bought in 1857 by Lewis Mason and his wife Nancy and renamed the Phoenix Hotel. But the townspeople called it the Mason House and the name stuck. It is now on the Register of Historic Places as the Mason House Inn."
