One year after the terrorist attacks, the area around Ground Zero in downtown New York City is showing another sign of life -- the reopening of several nearby hotels. The Millennium Hilton, the Marriott World Financial Center and the Embassy Suites Hotels were all closed down following the events of last September 11. The Marriott opened its doors to guests once again in January. The Embassy Suites reopened in May, and the Hilton is hopeful it will reopen in the near future.

In addition, there is new development to report in that area. Over 500 new hotel rooms will become available in December and January. Life may not ever return fully to normal, but it does continue on.

Dates reported here were accurate as of publication. As always, check with the hotel before making final travel plans.
