Within walking distance of Oasis Canoa is the Eastern National Park with its nature trails and caverns with Taino pictographs. Small nearby fishing villages like Boca de Yuma and Bayahibe are great to visit to experience the local culture and meringue and bachata dance rhythms. The well-fortified Ponce de Leon House, where the conquistador lived while acquiring wealth from the surrounding plantation in order to invade Puerto Rico, is well worth a visit.
