What's Special About Puntacana Resort?:
Guests will notice a difference as soon as they land at the world's first privately owned International airport. The only Caribbean destination with both a championship golf course and three miles of white sandy beach, the resort's residential side has attracted homeowners Mikhail Baryshnikov, Julio Iglasias and Oscar de la Renta. A green resort, Puntacana grows organic vegetables and herbs for its restaurants. The Ecological Foundation oversees a nature reserve, trails and a Biodiversity Lab.
Guest Rooms and Suites:
400 guest rooms and suites, from $93 per person per night (based on double occupancy) including breakfast and dinner; children sharing a room from $47. Most are located in six buildings overlooking the gardens, beach or the golf course, and have mahogany or rattan furniture and marble floors. Two- and three-bedroom beach villas from $389 per night per villa. Rates also include most activities, such as water sports, Merengue and Salsa lessons, daytime tennis and beach aerobics.
Dining at Puntacana Resort:
Eight restaurants and four bars include La Cocoloba (nouvelle Caribbean), La Yola (gourmet seafod and pasta), Anani (international gourmet), Mamma Venezia (romantic Italian), La Cana (Oceanview buffet), La Choza (grilled seafood and sandwiches at the beach), and Franco's Pizzeria. La Cana, Mamma Venezia and Anani are included in the meal plan.
Kid Friendly Features:
Puntacana Resort offers a supervised children's program for ages 4-12. Activities include boat rides, water skiing classes, horseback riding, games and crafts. Kids can also enjoy a petting zoo.
Recreation at Puntacana Resort:
On-site water sports include sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, snorkeling, and boating (complimentary), plus scuba and deep-sea fishing. Just offshore is an eight kilometer coral reef and a sunken 220 foot cargo ship. On land, Puntacana offers a private nature reserve with a swimmable spring, petting zoo, tennis, two swimming pools and horseback riding. Adjacent oceanfront La Cana Golf Course features 18 holes designed by P. B. Dye. A Tom Fazio oceanfront golf course will open in 2007.
Spa and Fitness Center:
Puntacana Resort offers a fitness center as well as Six Senses Spa, with a holistic and wellness focus and eight treatment rooms, plus four additional spaces outdoors. This is the first location Six Senses Spas has opened in the Caribbean. The "Planet Earth Core Treatment" incorporates minerals such as gold, silver, crystals and aromatic clays as well as native flora and fauna. Children under 12 have a special half-price spa menu.
- Punta Cana shopping mall, across from the airport, has a bowling alley, drugstore, video store, beauty parlor and restaurants.
- In June, July and August, sea turtles nest on the beach.
- An Oscar de la Renta boutique is in the airport.
- Explore the nature trails to see an iguana habitat, fruit trees and insect, bird and plant life unique to the island.
- The resort covers a large area. Shuttle operate from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM, or arrange to rent a golf cart for your stay.
