Avalon Baccara

From Peggy: I was very upset when I first arrived as I booked my trip 7 months ago. I upgraded to a one bedroom suite. I picked the hotel since it only had 27 rooms and a hot tub on the balcony. I email the hotel four times before arrival to make sure I was getting what I wanted and never recieved a reply.

Upon arrival up the drive my heart sank, it was not what I expected. Lots of steps and no elevator. No matter where you went, steps!

Upon entering my room I was pleased, a little worn but nice, pretty much what I expected. The heartbreak came when I went to the balcony. The hot tub did not work but that was not the problem. It was facing the street and across from a mall that was under construction! On the left of the balcony was an ugly wall.

I asked where was the ocean view I asked for and he leaned over the side and you could see a sliver of the beach. I cried and cried. This was Wednesday, and they promised to move us Friday to an oceanfront. Friday came and we were told now it had to wait til Saturday. I just gave up then since we were leaving Tuesday a.m. and focused on the place itself.

The staff was great, the pool so nice and quiet, it was like a private vacation. I had to forget the balcony and just enjoy. We did. The poolside lunch was great, however we went to the sister hotel for breakfast and dinner. After all the stairs I just about died walking to the other hotel so we spent $ taking a taxi back and forth two times daily. It was pretty good, however, the last night we had to leave due to a zillion flies on us and our food.

Overall it was good vacation. I cant go back due to the steps, but it was a overall great vacation.
