Essex Inn

From a guest reviewer, for About.com

From Emma: STAY AWAY. Seedy. Ratty. Just plain scary.

Details: You pull up and you know you are in trouble. What do you do? Try and get on the phone and rebook another hotel? YES!

From the time you drive UNDER the hotel into a small garage to register and take in your bags, you know it's not gonna be good. I had to stay that night, but rebooked the next day.

Hallways are in old leopard spotted, filthy carpet. Elevators are just plain filthy. Oh yeah, they stick too. Sometimes you wait forever.

Rooms are bad. Carpet dirty. Just stay away. Area of hotel is NOT good or safe. The Hilton, which is across the street, is a MUCH better choice; safer and cleaner. I walked over there for my coffee even.

Essex is not a place you want to stay unless you have NO money whatsoever, or are a group of students who are poor. Then maybe.
