Tropicana Hotel Casino

About.com Rating one out of Five

From a guest reviewer, for About.com

Guest review by Larry, visited May 2006

Just returned from a 5 day/4 night stay at the Tropicana. If the rating system had a minus scale, I would rate them a -10. The Tropicana is supposed to be torn down next year and the staff from management down to the cocktail waitresses reflect a don't-give-a-damn attitude about guest relations. The vast majority were rude and uncaring -- there were very few exceptions. My family has vacationed in Las Vegas for the past 12 years and I have never experienced such a bad visit.

The final insult was at checkout time. They added a $1 a day charge just for having a phone in the room. Local/long distance calls were additional charges as you would expect. I have never been charged for the 'privilege' of having a phone in the room, anywhere in the world. If you stay at the Tropicana, be forewarned. At check-in, don't let them rush you through all the 'initial here,' 'sign here' routine. The phone charge was just a deceitful, underhanded trick to squeeze 1 more dollar out of you.
