From JustaGuy: After my stay at L'Auberge du Lac, it's hard for me to reconcile what I experienced with the negative comments of a couple of reviewers. From the reservation call through check-out, I was treated with first class customer service.
Although Hurricane Rita was bearing down on Lake Charles (and eventually made an almost direct hit) I did not notice a degradation of service by any of the obviously concerned staff. To a person, they went out of their way to ensure my stay was enjoyable.
The accommodations were spacious and elegant (coffee makers were provided in every room contrary to a previous review), the restaurants delivered excellent fare, the shops were upscale and reasonable, the spa was first class (GREAT massages!), and the casino was top-notch.
I gambled in the high-limit area and on the floor and in both cases was treated as a welcomed and treasured guest. The pit crews were accessible, the dealers pleasant, and the surroundings first class.
L'Auberge has just re-opened after the minor repairs they suffered from Rita and I plan to visit them very soon -- that is if I can get a room!!
