From BlackKittyAngel: If I could buy this place I would. I am fascinated and terrified by the Myrtles.

I love it because during the day is calm, serene, and lovely. The perfect picture of a warm, inviting, Louisiana Plantation. However, at night it lives up to its haunted reputation.

If you like a great meal, a romantic and historic place, and a good fright, it's the place to be. Varnado's offers great food. The room rates are appropriate. The people are usually friendly. The staff is warm and friendly (including the groundskeeper, the caretaker, Glenn, Hester and the rest of the crew).

The ghosts, well, they like to visit. Never forget it's their home and they like it that way. I was terrified after I stayed there last December. We heard noises, we felt and saw things. I might have slept two hours total and for weeks I was terrified. It felt like something was following me.

It took me until August 2007 to get up the nerve to go back. This time my friend, Eddie, got shoved really hard in the back while we were in the restaurant. Except we were in a corner table with a window behind him. I have pictures of ghosts in the front door and of a "ghost" cat on the fence. I also got a great photo of a huge blue orb by the woods outside of the restaurant. Have fun.
