From Janis: WOW! I have NEVER been in a nicer NYC hotel than the Alex! We booked a regular room online for one night, and were pleasantly UPGRADED to a small suite at NO CHARGE!
The room was absolutely the nicest room for the money in NYC, EVER. Fridge, stove, microwave, wet bar, GORGEOUS. My daughter is a performer, and we've spent MANY nights in NYC hotels prior to auditions and performances, etc...and THE ALEX'S ROOM WAS BY FAR the NICEST, MOST COMFORTABLE room we have EVER stayed in! The BEDDING (Frette?) alone was exquisite and comfortable! EVERYthing was top shelf. EVERYthing was new and spotless.
I doubt the prices will stay as reasonable, as when word gets out about the luxury for the value...I'm sure this will be considered a 5-star hotel and will command 5-star rates. The front desk help was superb, room service excellent. Best cable TV service in NYC for channel choices, free Internet hookup, etc. etc. I could rave on and on.
I have NOTHING but praises to sing for the Alex. I know where I will DEFINITELY be staying the next time I have to spend the night in NYC.
