Reported by: Guest Rhonda Kauffman stayed in the hotel twice in the summer of 2003, and was met both times by a mysterious odor. From Rhonda: "About 6 months ago I stayed at the Hyatt Hotel St Claire in San Jose, California. I was awoken about 2 a.m. by the smell of cigarette smoke in my room. I was on a non-smoking floor but I figured someone was just smoking in the hall. No big deal; I went back to sleep."
Then It Happened Again: "A couple of weeks later I returned to the hotel and again at around 2 a.m. I smelled cigarette smoke. This time I got up and opened the door to see if someone was smoking, and there was no one and no smell. The cigarette was coming from my room. There was a leather chair in my room and I went over to it and it smelled of fresh cigarette. Ten minutes later the smell was completely gone. I didn't go back to bed that night and I haven't returned."
