Haunted Hotel - Jekyll Island Club in Jekyll Island, Georgia

By , About.com Guide

The Haunting:
General Lloyd Aspinwall was to be the club's first president. He died a year before the club opened. His figure has been seen strolling along the Riverfront Veranda (now the Aspinwall Room).

One guest building, Sans Souci, was originally built in 1896 for members of the hunting club. One member, J. Pierpont Morgan, liked to sit out on the porch of his third story apartment in the early morning hours, watch the river and smoke a cigar. Guests rising early can still smell his cigar smoke.

Employees Haunt It Too:
A bellman dressed in a uniform from the 1920s knocks on the rooms of newlywed couples, offering the bridegrooms freshly laundered and pressed suits. He has not been identified yet.
