Haunted Hotel: The Omni Shoreham in Washington, D.C.

By , About.com Guide

The Story:

Two mysterious deaths occurred in the presidential suite. The first, in 1930, was the executive housekeeper, Juliette Brown. She was staying in the suite with the owner of the hotel and his family. She awoke at about 4:00 am, feeling ill, and died reaching for the telephone.

The second death, in the same suite, was the hotel owner's adopted child, Helen. That death was also mysterious, and occurred soon after Juliette's death.

The Haunting:

Witnesses report seeing the television and lights coming on suddenly at 4:00 am and housekeeping carts being moved around. Some have reported feeling a breeze, as if an unseen presence was running quickly past them. Guests staying next to Room 864, Juliette's former bedroom, have called the front desk complained of noises even when the room was unoccupied.

Who's Haunting the Omni Shoreham?:

Guests and staff have reported so many unexplained events, they nicknamed the ghost in that wing of the hotel "Vivica," although some believe it might be linked to the two deaths.
