Haunted Hotel - The Partridge Inn in Augusta, Georgia

By Charlyn Keating Chisholm, About.com

The Bottom Line: Emily, a heartbroken bride from the 1800s, is said to haunt the inn. A beautiful young girl with long, flowing chestnut hair, Emily was dressing in her bridal gown on her wedding day. Just as she was putting on her veil, she heard the news that her fiancé had been killed. He was mistaken for a soldier wanted for treason and was shot as he rode his horse into town.

Devastated, Emily wore her wedding dress for weeks. She never married, and it was said she died of a broken heart.

The Haunting: Emily can still be seen as she was on that fateful day, dressed in her wedding gown, wandering the hotel as she waits for her groom to arrive.
