I was slightly worried before I checked in to the Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Orlando. Putting together rock 'n roll and a theme park seemed like a recipe for LOUD, and I figured on a headache.
Boy, was I surprised. The Hard Rock Hotel isn't loud, it's cool. Everything was cool, from the new guest rooms, decorated in a chocolate and cream palette, to the delicious and casual food and drinks at The Kitchen.
As the story goes, the Hard Rock isn't a hotel, it's the mansion of a former rock star, and you are his guest. Everywhere you look, you'll see his amazing collection of rock 'n' roll memorabilia, from costumes in the hallway to pictures of rock stars accepting gold and platinum albums. The best part is the location - I could see the coasters of Islands of Adventure from my window, and it was a five-minute walk or short rickshaw ride to Universal Studios and CityWalk.
