From Louisianamom: I am both a local New Orleanian and a frequent traveler, and this is the third time (including pre-Katrina) that I have stayed at the CS for a family reunion. The service is well-meaning but every area has been woefully understaffed all three times we have stayed here.
While the location is convenient and the rooms large (especially by New Orleans' French Quarter standards), the rooms are dated and in need of renovation. Several family members had trouble with thermostats and fans, although we didn't this stay. Parking is pricey, but that is true everywhere in the Quarter. Good news is that Hyatt is rumored to be taking over the property and doing extensive renovations.
If you have kids or teens, stay at the Homewood Suites on Poydras. I have had good stays at the marriot Renaissance Arts and at Le Pavilion, but both do require walking a few blocks to the quarter.
