Although the final tally will net this hotel a rating of 2, being the eternal optimist, I'd like to start with the positive points about this facility. After all, this property has a 5 star rating for a reason.
1. Friendly staff (I find that to be true in almost all the big hotels in Vegas).
2. Exceptionally clean and well kept facility.
3. Better than average culinary experience (I'll name the food service facilities my wife and I visited at the Wynn later in this review).
Even if you do not plan on staying at the Wynn, you must try the restaurants here. The Garden Terrace Cafe' has exceptional quality food. The atmosphere is great, staff is wonderful, The burger is a Must Try. We ate there twice, and left full and thankful both times. The Buffet is always rated high among buffets in Vegas for a reason.
If you're a Sushi fan you must visit Okada Japanese restaurant. You'll spend 50% more than you would at the better sushi bars around the country, but the quality of the fish and the presentation is well worth the extra cost.
4.The room we stayed in is spacious and has great, expansive views, I have a feeling many of the rooms are so, but I can only address the room we stayed in.
1.You'll pay through the nose for everything. Here are some examples: $4.00-$8.00 for a bottle of water. $4.00 for a bottle of Red Bull. $4.00 for a croissant, $15.00-$18.00 for a glass of house wine, $7.00 for a bottle Corona, $13.00-$16.00 for a burger with fries, $4.50 charge for using the ATM machine, $3.00 for a newspaper ($1.50 for USA Today, which is free in most hotels). I seriously suggest that you check prices of all goods and services provided at and by the Wynn, and don't take any costs for granted. This is not a price obstacle as it is a value obstacle. We're prepared to pay more for greater value product and service, in this instance, we paid a lot more for little or no extra value.
2.There are no vendors with perishable goods and services inside the Wynn Hotel. Vendors like Starbucks, Coffee Bean, Subway, etc... Almost all stores are Wynn stores. This does not include name brand stores in the shopping center, names like Dior, Rolex, etc... Additionally, choice of goods sold at the convenient within the Wynn hotel, is slim. Choices are very limited. So if you're like me and appreciate your Coffee Bean cup of Joe in the morning, you're out of luck.
3. Walls between rooms are paper thin. My wife and I had difficulty sleeping 2 out of the 3 nights we spent at the Wynn. At the room rate that we paid, one would expect better night of sleep.
