Heidi Jewett, director of recreation at Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, N.Y., shares a fun, easy and quick way for kids to create gingerbread houses with graham crackers and royal icing.
Ingredients:
- For Royal Icing:
- 1 pound of confectionery sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 3 egg whites
Preparation:
Beat SLOWLY until stiff peaks form. Put icing in a pastry bag or plastic bag with a hole cut in the bottom corner to act as a pastry bag.Use the icing to glue five graham crackers together and allow to harden. Then decorate with candy.
