In honor of "Hotel Rwanda," nominated for three Academy Awards this year, here is a list of "hotel" movies which have won (or been nominated for) Academy Awards.
1. Grand Hotel

This star-studded, epic melodrama follows the diverse characters staying in Berlin's glamorous Grand Hotel, including Greta Garbo's dramatically depressed ballerina, John Barrymore's blue-blood cat burglar, and Joan Crawford, who steals the show as the young secretary to an arrogant tycoon.
2. Hotel Rwanda
2004Academy Awards: Nominated for Best Lead Actor (Don Cheadle), Best Supporting Actress (Sophie Okonedo), Best Original Screenplay
Golden Globes: Nominated for Best Motion Picture - Drama, Best Original Song, Best Lead Actor
Don Cheadle's standout role as a hotel manager saving the lives of refugees in civil war torn Rwanda.
3. Hotel Paraiso (aka Zus & Zo)
2001Academy Awards: Nominated for Best Foreign Language Film (Netherlands)
Three twisted sisters try to sabotage their gay brother's wedding in order to thwart his inheritance of the family's seaside resort in Portugal.
4. Four Rooms and Hotel
1995MTV Movie Awards: Nominated Best Sandwich in a Movie
Razzies: Won Worst Supporting Actress (Madonna)
Four short stories studded with stars like Madonna, Jennifer Beals, Salma Hayek, Kathy Griffin, Marisa Tomei and Bruce Willis. The four stories were written and directed by the likes of Quentin Tarantino, so you think it wouldn't be so bad. Oh, but it is.
5. Holiday Inn
1942Academy Awards: Won Best Original Song for "White Christmas" (Irving Berlin), nominated for Best Original Score and Best Writing, Original Story
Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire run the inn of the title, which is only open on holidays. The story, the singing, and the dancing are all top-notch.
6. The Inn of the Sixth Happiness
1956Academy Awards: Nominated for Best Director (Mark Robson)
Golden Globe: Won for Best Film Promoting International Understanding
Ingrid Bergman stars in this movie based on a true story of a British missionary who moves to China and ends up saving 100 children from a Japanese invasion.
7. Hôtel Terminus - The Life and Times of Klaus Barbie
1988Academy Awards: Won Best Documentary
Documentary of the life and times of Klaus Barbie, the Gestapo police chief of Lyon, France.
8. International Hotel (aka The V.I.P.s)
1963Academy Awards: Won Best Supporting Actress (Margaret Rutherford)
In the sweeping style of Grand Hotel (but not as well done), this epic features an international cast that includes Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Margaret Rutherford, Maggie Smith and Orson Welles as intertwining characters stuck in London's Heathrow Airport.
