Two examples come to mind. First, I can't start my day without Earl Grey tea and lemons. OK, I can start it, but it's not pretty. When I didn't see either Earl Grey or lemons (or limes, since after all, we are in the Caribbean), I asked for them each morning. Without fail, whomever I asked (even the busboys at this buffet restaurant) went out of their way to find what I needed. In the end, the solution was to use the bottled lime juice from the smoothie bar. While it's not my favorite, I didn't even mind, because they were so willing to help.
The second encounter was with Yvette at the front desk late one night. We were going back to the room, where I knew there was no bottled water. (Bottled water addicts, take note: it's not served in the restaurants either. The only place it's available is in the gift shop, for an extra charge.) I was REALLY thirsty and the gift shop was closed.
Yvette could have easily blown us off in that polite way you see at many resorts ("So sorry, there's nothing I can do.") Instead, she called around a couple of places, finally finding bottled water behind the bar, and had two bottles sent back to our room. I was really impressed.
