Description: Considered the most luxurious ocean liner ever to sail the Atlantic, the Queen Mary first set sail in 1934, carrying 3,000 passengers and crew. Once host to celebrities such as Fred Astaire, Clark Gable and Greta Garbo, she made her way from Great Britain to New York with style and grace. Refitted during World War II, the ship carried as many as 16,000 troops at a time and even became a floating hospital for a while. After 1,001 voyages across the ocean, the Queen Mary was permanently docked in Long Beach in 1967, where it is both an Art Deco hotel and an interactive museum.
