The resort’s tiered high-rise wings and centrally located lagoon pool area open to a broad view of Banderas Bay, Mexico’s largest natural bay. Soaking in the resort’s huge bayside hot tub illuminated by a fire pit at night is a delight. While the Cyber Café in the resort’s Palmita Market is open from 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m and features multiple computer terminals for high-speed Internet access, I would like it better if guests weren’t charged for Internet usage.

A 17,000-square-foot European-style spa recently has been added to the resort. The simple, elegant décor of the spa is showcased by the resort’s signature marble. Treatments include body wraps, hydrotherapy and jetlag therapy. A well-equipped fitness center and two championship tennis courts are included in the spa’s offerings.

As Puerto Vallarta is a just quick ride from the resort, you won’t want to miss it. The historic Spanish Colonial town is both picturesque and enchanting. While in the area you may also want to try horseback riding on the beach, whale watching and swimming with dolphins. Excursions to the nearby Sierra Madre offer zip lining through the rainforest canopy or a visit to a Huichol Indian village.
