Guest Rooms at Sierra Grande Lodge:
Eighteen guest rooms. Rooms are small but charmingly decorated with large soaking bathtubs open to the room and either two twin beds or one queen-sized bed. Six rooms share a balcony overlooking Truth or Consequences with views of Turtleback Mountain. Two- and three-room suites are also available. A two-bedroom, two-bath Casita (from $345) has a full kitchen and living room, plus a large walled private desert garden with an outdoor hot spring soaking tub. Nightly rates from about $99.
Dining at Sierra Grande Lodge:
- The on-site restaurant had no chef and was not open at the time of my visit in early 2008; check directly with the hotel about the status.
- Nearby (most within walking distance) are several small neighborhood joints including the Happy Belly Deli and Little Sprout.
- For lunch and dinner, the more upscale Café BellaLuca has soups, salads, sandwiches, pizza, seafood and pasta dishes.
Amenities at Sierra Grande Lodge:
- The hot springs soaking baths (both indoor and outdoor) are open to the public by reservation for $25 for a half hour ($5 each additional person). Guests of the lodge get a free soak each day of their stay.
- The spa offers massages, including warm stone and acupressure, for very affordable rates (from $75 for an hour's massage). All spa treatments also include a hot springs soak.
Good to Know about Sierra Grande Lodge:
- A charming and airy dining room is available for special events.
- Sierra Grande Lodge was originally built in 1929 and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
