Deer Valley Ski Resort

Midway up the mountain at Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah, is Silver Lake Village. When we arrived, over a foot of snow that had fallen all day covered the entire village.

One thing that stands out about the Park City ski resorts is convenience. You can take a direct flight out of several U.S. cities (from Los Angeles, it's only an hour), drive about 30 miles to the resort, and be skiing by lunchtime.

If you do, look up the Quick START program. Fill out and print an online voucher, bring it to the ticket office of any of the Park City resorts with your boarding pass and ID, and they'll give you a free one-day lift ticket. Not bad!
