What's Special About Omni San Diego:
Major league baseball fans, take note: the Omni San Diego was the first hotel in the U.S. to be connected to a ballpark. You can actually watch a game from some of the rooms (higher floors are best for this). The hotel caters to business travelers but also offers a great location at the entrance to the Gaslamp Quarter. Guest Rooms and Rates:
511 guest rooms and suites, from about $329. Guest rooms are sleek and neutral with a sand and seashell palette. Views are of the bay or the city. Rooms have complimentary in-room wired and wireless Internet access, a desk with electrical outlets, coffee makers, ironing board, laptop safe, DVD players and CD clock radios.

Dining at Omni San Diego:
McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurant, just off the lobby, has 30+ varieties of fresh seafood (serves breakfast, lunch and dinner). I was especially impressed with the breakfast buffet, which included fresh-squeezed orange juice, an omelet station with cage-free eggs, fresh berries, hormone-free sausage and bacon, organic cereals, Tea Forte and Starbucks coffee. Morsel's offers Starbucks coffee and snacks. The Lobby Lounge serves beer and cocktails. Room service is available 24 hours a day.
Insider Tips:
- Bathrooms in all King rooms have shuttered walls to let in light (and let out sound and er, smells) so make sure you're sharing the room with someone you know very, very well.
- Baseball fans: ask at the front desk for a guide to the hotel's memorabilia, including Joe DiMaggio's cleats, a baseball autographed by Mickey Mantle, the bat Pete Rose used to break Ty Cobb's record in 1985, and Babe Ruth's 1923 contract with the Yankees.
- The downtown trolley stop is around the corner.
Recreation:
Use of the fitness center at the Omni San Diego is complimentary. You can also request a "Get Fit Kit" with supplies for your own in-room workout (floor mat, dumbbells, mini radio with earphones, elastic stretch bands and an exercise booklet). Get Fit guest rooms include a treadmill. The hotel also has an outdoor heated swimming pool, a whirlpool and a double-sided fireplace. A full-service spa offers massages, facials and salon services including wedding makeup and hair styling.
Meetings at the Omni San Diego:
Over 27,000 square feet of meeting space (including a 9,266 square foot ballroom and an outdoor space with bay views for 300 people) plus a location across the street from the convention center make the Omni San Diego a convenient choice for meetings. A business center is open weekdays.
Kid-Friendly Features:
The Omni San Diego is a kid-friendly hotel, participating in the Omni Kids Program. The hotel can provide you with a list of nearby family activities, childproofing and safety aids for the room, and special children's amenities such as a refillable cup, bedtime snacks and coloring books.
Location of Omni San Diego:
At the entrance to the Gaslamp Quarter, where you can walk or take a short cab ride to dozens of restaurants, bars and specialty shops. Adjacent to PETCO Park (connected by an elevated walkway) and across the street from the convention center. The world-famous San Diego Zoo is about a $15 taxi ride away. San Diego International Airport is about three miles away. Compare Flights
