The restaurant is named after a possible chance meeting between the Prince of Wales (Edward VIII, the Duke of Windsor) and his legendary love, Wallis Simpson. Although he abdicated his throne to marry her a full sixteen years later (she was divorced), their first meeting may possibly have happened during his 1920 visit.
