On second thought, there's a better way to wait out a snowstorm at The Cliff - at the spa. One of the best things about The Cliff is everything you need - when you're not actually skiing - is within one building. I was able to ditch the snow pants, heavy jacket and gloves, put on something more civilized (OK, jeans), and head to the spa.

The Spa at The Cliff has a lot going for it. First, it smells soothingly like eucalyptus. Also, the treatment waiting area is a series of lounge chairs overlooking a picture window, so you can gaze reflectively on what you're missing - or in my case, glad to miss.

I opted for a Signature Custom Pressure massage (50 minutes, $130) with Alison. She explained acupressure points as she worked out all my tension. Apparently, the pain in my left shoulder blade meant I was having trouble related to the women in my life (the right shoulder would mean man trouble). There is another spot, just to the outside and below your kneecap, that if rubbed in a circular direction can help with stomach troubles.
