What's Special About Sundance:

When I pulled up to Sundance after about an hour's drive from the Salt Lake City airport, I kicked myself for not having a camera ready. The setting could make a postcard. Rustic lodges arranged up the mountain, surrounded by spruce and elm trees coated in snow. Streams running through sparkling snow under footbridges. I checked in next to a breezeway where skiers were heading to one of the three lifts. Next to the check-in desk was a roaring fire and a table with hot chocolate and herbal tea. It's winter paradise.
Guest Rooms and Rates:

Winter rates start at $246 for a standard room; $231 in summer. A Mountain Suite starts at $336 in winter, $311 in summer. Weekend rates are higher. Families and larger groups should consider the Mountain Homes. Accommodations vary, but all have robes, VCRs, and the Sundance channel on TV. Some suites have wood-burning fireplaces, whirlpool or steam baths, and full kitchens. Rates include daily breakfast for two at the Foundry Grill. Check-out time is 11 a.m.
Restaurants at Sundance:

The casual and rustic Foundry Grill serves meals all day next to wood-burning fireplaces. Just outside is the quaint Sundance Deli, where guests can purchase coffee, newspapers, sandwiches, deli meats and drinks. (They also deliver to rooms.) Nearby is fine dining at the Tree Room, where the menu showcases wild game like elk, buffalo and wild boar. The Owl Bar features the actual bar once frequented by Butch Cassidy's gang.
Skiing at Sundance:

Ray's Lift is a quad lift at Sundance, and two other lifts pick up farther up the mountain. The lift picks up just outside the ticket office and ski school. A shuttle is available to bring you and your equipment from your cottage down to the lift. The restaurants are a short walk from the lift. Sundance has group and private ski and snowboarding lessons starting at age 4 (for snowboarders, age 7). About half of the runs are beginner to intermediate, making it a good family resort.
Other Activities at Sundance:

Winter activities include snowmobiling, horse-drawn wagon and sleigh rides, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and fly fishing. During the summer, popular activities include hiking, fishing, mountain biking, horseback riding, eco-tours, plus art, photography and film workshops.
Spa at Sundance:

The small but very relaxing spa incorporates aromatherapy into treatments inspired by native American culture. In the signature Four Winds Massage, you choose one of four essential oil mixtures representing each of the four winds. Sundance Spa prices are very reasonable, at only $100 for a one-hour Four Winds Massage.
Meeting Space at Sundance:

Built originally for the Sundance Festival, meeting space at Sundance can accommodate groups up to 250 in 10,000 square feet of space. During the summer and fall, outdoor meeting space is surrounded by breaktaking views of the mountains.
