The Ocean Club Resort is a laid-back, yet amenity-rich resort on one of the world's most highly rated beaches, Grace Bay Beach on Provo in the Turks and Caicos islands. The resort makes the most of its location providing oceanfront dining and two pools. Guests can relax under the resort's signature salmon-colored umbrellas or take a sunset walk down the 12-mile beach.
The property features 86 suites (from 400-square-foot studios to 1,900-square-foot, three-bedroom units). Each suite offers a private terrace or balcony, kitchenette or kitchen, coffeemaker, in-room safe, iron and ironing board, VCR. All rooms, except studios, are equipped with a washer and dryer. The suites, all of which have kitchens or kitchenettes, are as livable as apartments. Large, screened-in balconies and terraces allow guests to enjoy ocean views and the resort's lush and colorful landscaping.

The resort's Spa Tropique isn't large, but treatments are luxurious. For shopping, check out the on-site Ocean Plaza with its assortment of art and fine crafts. There's also a Kids Club. Videos and bicycles are complimentary. Provo Golf Club, an 18-hole golf course, is located near the resort. Provo Turtle Divers has an on-site dive shop and can arrange snorkeling and diving expeditions to a 200-mile coral reef. Big Blue provides kayaking and eco-tours and Sail Provo offers chartered sailing trips. The Caicos Conch Farm, the world's only conch farm, offers an interesting tour.
The Cabana Bar and Grille fills short orders for breakfast, lunch and dinner in an outdoor, casual environment. Sitting under the resort umbrellas you can enjoy both views of the ocean and the pool. For fine dining, check out the Gecko Grill where you can dine either indoors or outdoors. The chef creates delightful Caribbean concoctions from the freshest ingredients. Don't miss the local favorite, conch, whether in fritters or chowder.
Ocean Club West, the sister property to Ocean Club, is located about a mile down the beach, just a 20-minute stroll or five-minute shuttle ride away. Guests can use its facilities, including two tennis courts, and make charges to their rooms. The sister resort's Seaside Café puts a French spin on Caribbean cuisine.
While the open-air set up at Ocean Club Resort works well on your typical sunny Caribbean day, it would be better if there were more activities and dining options available in sheltered areas for when it rains. The weather was particularly wet during my trip.
