What's Special About The Greenbrier:


Open since 1778, this National Historic Landmark resort underwent a $50 million renovation project that was complete in early 2007. On the resort's grounds is a Cold War-era government bunker, which was top secret until recently; it's available for tours.

Guest Rooms at The Greenbrier:


721 guest rooms in romantic patterns and dramatic colors, including 33 suites and 96 guest and estate houses. Accommodations vary widely in size, from a standard guest room to a seven-bedroom estate home. Sixty-three Classic Deluxe guest rooms have marble bathrooms with soaking tubs, walk-in showers and updated décor by Carleton Varney.

Dining at The Greenbrier:


Two new venues opened in 2007. A new restaurant, Hemisphere, is open only for dinner five nights a week, the globally-influenced menu has four tasting menus including one of chocolate. 38°80 is the new cocktail lounge. The stately Main Dining Room serves breakfast and a gourmet American dinner menu. Open seasonally, Draper's Café serves a breakfast buffet, casual lunch, afternoon snacks and desserts. Sports bar Slammin' Sammy's has big-screen TVs and billards. Sam Snead's at The Golf Club has a wood-burning oven and open kitchen.

Activities at The Greenbrier:


Options include tennis (indoor and outdoor), golf (three courses), rock climbing, fly fishing, falconry lessons, pony rides, sleigh rides, bowling and off-road driving. Be sure to sign up for a tour of the underground Congressional bunker, built during the Cold War era on the Greenbrier's grounds. The 40,000 square foot Greenbrier Spa is known for its sulphur baths and hydrotherapy treatments.

Swimming Pool at The Greenbrier:


The indoor pool is open year-round and was designed in a dramatic style in the 1940s by Dorothy Draper; adjacent is the Rhododendron Café and the spa. The outdoor, infinity-edge pool is open seasonally and overlooks a golf course.

Kid-Friendly Features of The Greenbrier:


The Adventure Zone offers supervised activities for kids ages 3-12. Activities include arts exploration, scavenger hunts, puppet shows, games, carriage rides, swimming and bowling.

Meetings at The Greenbrier:


The Greenbrier's 85,000 square feet of meeting space includes several large exhibit areas and a 300-seat theater.
