A great way to access the park during the winter, as well as other seasons, is through Yellowstone's Lodging & Learning Programs. The value-priced seasonal packages are offered through a partnership between Yellowstone National Park Lodges and Yellowstone Association Institute.

The Yellowstone Association Institute is the not-for-profit educational partner of the National Park Service. Yellowstone National Park Lodges is operated by Xanterra Parks & Resorts, which provides lodging, restaurants and activities for the park.

During the Lodge & Learning programs seasoned naturalists take small groups out for themed observation of flora, fauna and geologic features. The four- to six-night programs are relatively low cost and provide exceptional experiences and a deeper understanding of how the park's ecosystems work together.

Depending upon the tour visitors see such features as the terraces, Old Faithful, the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River, Yellowstone Lake and various geyser basins. Activities may include snow shoeing, soaking in a hot tub, cross country skiing, ice-skating and optional evening programs.
